How To: Rank Higher on Google Search

If you’re a contractor in the first few years of business, the obvious goal is to start ranking highly on Google Search to gain some inbound leads.
It can feel frustrating though, especially if you’re in a highly competitive market.
You don’t have a budget of tens of thousands to build a dominating website.
Well… good news.
You don’t have to spend tens of thousands to be at the top of Google.
You can outrank even the best website – using this one little strategy.
And that is, leverage your Google maps listing.
It’s free in terms of money, but it does cost time and discipline.
Here’s what you do:
- Create a Google listing.
- Fill out every field and info section you can.
- Post on it every day
- Get reviews. From everyone
That’s it.
When you create and fill out your Google listing, make sure you fill out every available field.
Add your services, add photos of those services, add well written descriptions, all of it.
And then to two most important ones:
Posting and reviews.
As for posting, treat it like another social media platform.
Post on it every day.
Photos of your job sites, your designs, your trucks, your team, your work, everything.
And then reviews.
The reviews are probably the hardest part.
But one of the most effective levers to rank your Google listing high up on Google is those reviews.
The review frequency and recency is what matters the most.
Meaning how frequently you get a new review.
And how recent your newest one is.
The key to succeeding here is to ensure that requesting reviews is baked into your process.
Ask for reviews from everyone.
Possibly even the people that simply did a consultation with you! ha ha.
If you build a Google listing with dozens, even hundreds of good reviews, and your listing is rich with photos and activity from you, it will rank well.
And the best Google listings show at the top of the Google search results.
Yes, even above the top organic website.
